Choices About How We Use and Disclose Your Information
We strive to provide you with choices regarding the personal information you provide to us. We have created mechanisms to provide you with the following control over your information:
Tracking Technologies and Advertising. You can set your browser to refuse all or some browser cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. To learn how you can manage your Flash cookie settings, visit the Flash player settings page on Adobe’s website. If you disable or refuse cookies, please note that some parts of this site may then be inaccessible or not function properly.
Disclosure of Your Information for Third-Party Advertising. If you do not want us to share your personal information with unaffiliated or non-agent third parties for promotional purposes, you can opt-out by checking the relevant box located on the registration form. You can also always opt-out by sending us an email with your request through our contact form.
Promotional Offers from the Company. If you do not wish to have your email address/contact information used by the Company to promote our own or third parties’ products or services, you can opt-out by unsubscribing to our emails or by sending us an email stating your request through our contact form. If we have sent you a promotional email, you may send us a return email asking to be omitted from future email distributions. This opt out does not apply to information provided to the Company as a result of a services purchase or other transactions.
Accessing and Correcting Your Information
You may send us an email through our contact form to request access to, correct or delete any personal information that you have provided to us.
Veterinary Practice Data — Roles and Responsibilities
The veterinary practice or veterinary professional using the App determines what patient and client information is entered into the App and retains responsibility for the accuracy, appropriateness, and lawful collection and use of that information.
The veterinary practice retains ownership of the patient and client information it enters into the App.
When Server Mode is used, petMAP processes and stores this information on the practice’s behalf for the purposes of providing, maintaining, securing, and supporting the App and related cloud services. We do not sell veterinary patient or client information.
Information We Collect Through the petMAP App
Patient and Monitoring Data
When a veterinary practice uses the App to record or store patient information, petMAP may process patient information including name, species, breed, age, weight, date of birth, microchip number, clinical notes, and photographs; pet owner name, phone number, and email address as entered by the practice; and monitoring data captured from petMAP hardware devices, including ECG waveforms, SpO₂, CO₂, respiratory rate, non-invasive blood pressure (NIBP), and temperature readings.
Bluetooth
The App uses Bluetooth to connect to compatible petMAP monitoring hardware in order to receive live vital signs and waveform data from a connected device. Bluetooth is used for communication between the App and compatible petMAP devices.
Camera and Photo Library
With your permission, the App may access your device’s camera and photo library to allow you to take or select photographs of patients and to add a practice logo. Photos are stored either locally on your device or, if Server Mode is used, in our cloud storage as described below.
Local vs. Cloud Storage
The App can be used in one of two modes:
Local Mode: Patient data, monitoring recordings, and photos are stored locally on the user’s device and are not uploaded to petMAP’s cloud services.
Server Mode: Patient data, monitoring recordings, and photos are synced to cloud database and file storage services so they can be accessed across authorized devices associated with a practice’s account. Server Mode is designed to segregate each practice’s account data so that authorized users of one practice do not have access to another practice’s patient data.
Service Providers
When Server Mode is used, we engage third-party cloud infrastructure and technology providers to provide services such as database hosting, file storage, authentication, security, and related technical services. These providers process information on our behalf under applicable contractual and data-processing terms.
Aggregated and De-Identified Data
We may create and use aggregated or de-identified monitoring data from which individual patients, clients, users, and veterinary practices are not reasonably identifiable. We may use this information for purposes including product development, research, analytics, quality improvement, benchmarking, and developing and improving our monitoring technologies, products, services, and algorithms.
We do not sell personally identifiable veterinary patient or client information, and we do not use aggregated or de-identified information to attempt to re-identify individual pet owners, veterinary professionals, or veterinary practices.
Data Retention and Deletion
Authorized users may delete individual patient records within the App. Veterinary practices may also request deletion of account data maintained in petMAP’s cloud systems by contacting us at ccinfo@cardiocommand.com.
Requests from pet owners or other individuals concerning information maintained in a veterinary practice’s records should generally be directed to that veterinary practice.
Certain information may be retained for a limited period where reasonably necessary for backup, security, legal, regulatory, or other legitimate business purposes.
Data Security
We maintain administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information stored through the App against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s Privacy
The App is intended for use by veterinary professionals and veterinary practices and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through the App.
European Union / UK Users
If a veterinary practice using the App determines what personal information is entered and the purposes for which that information is processed, the practice generally acts as the data controller for personal information contained in its client and patient records, and petMAP generally acts as a processor providing the underlying technology and cloud services.
Requests from individuals to access, correct, delete, restrict, or otherwise exercise applicable data protection rights concerning information maintained in a veterinary practice’s records should generally be directed to that veterinary practice. Where petMAP acts as a processor, we will reasonably assist the veterinary practice in responding to such requests as required by applicable law and our contractual obligations.
International Data Transfers
When Server Mode is used, personal information may be processed or stored in the United States or other countries outside the European Economic Area or United Kingdom.
Where required by applicable law, we use recognized safeguards for international transfers of personal information, including the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the UK Addendum or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms.
California Residents
California residents may have certain rights regarding their personal information under applicable California law, including rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of certain personal information.
petMAP does not sell personal information or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Requests concerning personal information contained in a veterinary practice’s patient or client records should generally be directed to that veterinary practice. Where petMAP processes such information on behalf of a veterinary practice, we will reasonably assist the practice in responding to appropriate privacy requests.
Data Security
We have implemented measures designed to secure your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. The safety and security of your information also depends on you. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password for access to certain parts of our products, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share your password with anyone. Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted to our Website. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the Website.
Changes to Our Privacy Policy
It is our policy to post any changes we make to our privacy policy on this page with a notice that the privacy policy has been updated on the Website home page. If we make material changes to how we treat our users’ personal information, we will notify you by email to the email address specified in your account and through a notice on the Website home page.
